Morten Ask is from the small city Porsgrunn on the Norwegian east coast. He is among the most experienced fishkeepers in Norway, having been an aquarist for over 40 years. Morten has been through most of what is available in our hobby when it comes to groups of fish, but his main passion is livebearers from Central and South America. He is an avid member of the Goodeid Working Group and the Xiphophorus Working Group, which both are groups working to conserve the many endangered species included in these classifications. He is also a great Killifish enthusiast.
Morten has traveled to many parts of the world multiple times to study his passion for tropical fish and their habitats up close. During his visit to the Bergen Aquarium Conference, he will tell us more about his travels and his experiences. Morten has aggreed to do two talks for us, one dealing with livebearers (primarily Xiphophorus) in Mexico, and the other one will be decided at a later time – watch this space!
